The Indian auto industry has been rife with speculation regarding the alleged upcoming electric version of Mahindra & Mahindra’s charmingly capable SUV, the XUV700.
The vehicle is considered a household name in the Indian market: bold design, high-end features, and great road presence have made it one of the best-selling vehicles in Mahindra’s portfolio. Electric cars have been increasingly in demand in the country, and the electric version of the XUV700 is, therefore, an expected newcomer as Mahindra progresses with EV introductions.

It is bound to provide a good range in a single charge, and have fast charging capabilities, not to mention refined driving that all EVs are known for.
Market Impact and Consumer Expectations
This might have a big impact on the premium electric vehicle segment, as it will emerge to the buyer who is more eco-friendly in the conscience, but is not prepared to lose on luxury, space, or performance.
Now that it has positioned itself to bring forward its Born Electric platform, the XUV700 EV could, in all those other things, serve as the first step towards that larger vision. If priced right, it could alter the face of mid-size electric SUVs in India.
